So, let's get started. Please become an ISDI member. Begin a correspondence with me so we can talk about your current situation. I can begin to evaluate your position in this industry if you let me know as much as you can about your detailing background and experience. Send me a few of your drawings in either a .dwg or .dxf format. Please purge them of all unnecessary layers, lines, blocks, etc.

It's easy to become a member. Just follow the instructions in the membership section. All steel detailers around the world are welcome to join. The more participating members, the bigger and more influential the Institute will become.

If you are serious about your detailing future, then you must get on the path to 3-D modeling, if you are not already there. Learn TEKLA Structures or SDS-2. There will almost certainly remain a need for AutoCad detailing, but the larger detailing firms of the future will require 3-D knowledge.
